The National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS) plays a vital role in promoting agricultural research, education, and innovation in India. As a think tank, NAAS provides a platform for scientists to address key issues in agriculture and supports excellence in the field through its Fellowship and Associateship programs.

Why Journal Scoring Matters:

NAAS recognizes the importance of research publications in evaluating nominees for its prestigious Fellowships and Associateships. To ensure a fair and transparent assessment, the Academy developed a system to score scientific journals. This scoring mechanism helps evaluate the quality of research publications consistently across various scientific disciplines.

Categories of NAAS Journal Scoring:

Category I: Journals with Impact Factor:

Journals with a Clarivate (formerly Thomson Reuters) Impact Factor are scored using the formula:

NAAS Score = 6.00 + Impact Factor (capped at 20.00).

Category II: Journals without Impact Factor:

Journals without an Impact Factor are scored based on information provided by publishers and the evaluation of their scientific content.
