The National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS) plays a vital role in promoting agricultural research, education, and innovation in India. As a think tank, NAAS provides a platform for scientists to address key issues in agriculture and supports excellence in the field through its Fellowship and Associateship programs.
NAAS recognizes the importance of research publications in evaluating nominees for its prestigious Fellowships and Associateships. To ensure a fair and transparent assessment, the Academy developed a system to score scientific journals. This scoring mechanism helps evaluate the quality of research publications consistently across various scientific disciplines.
Journals with a Clarivate (formerly Thomson Reuters) Impact Factor are scored using the formula:
NAAS Score = 6.00 + Impact Factor (capped at 20.00).
Journals without an Impact Factor are scored based on information provided by publishers and the evaluation of their scientific content.

Please Note: The ratings of non-impact factor journals evaluated in 2023 and included in the NAAS Rating List (uploaded on January 1, 2024) will remain valid until December 31, 2026. These ratings will only change if a journal obtains a JCR (Journal Citation Reports) Impact Factor during this period.
