The International Journal of Environmental and Agriculture Research (IJOEAR) follows the authorship guidelines established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). Authorship credit should be based on substantial contributions to the research and manuscript preparation. All individuals who meet the authorship criteria must be listed as authors. Those who do not meet the criteria should be acknowledged.
ICMJE Authorship Criteria
To qualify as an author of a manuscript submitted to IJOEAR, an individual must meet ALL FOUR of the following criteria:
Criterion 1
Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work.
Criterion 2
Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content.
Criterion 3
Final approval of the version to be published.
Criterion 4
Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring integrity and accuracy of any part of the work.
Important: All four criteria must be met. Individuals who contribute to the research but do not meet all four criteria should be listed in the Acknowledgments section with their specific contributions and permission.
Author Contributions Statement
IJOEAR requires a detailed author contributions statement for all submitted manuscripts. The statement should specify each author's role using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) system.

Corresponding Author Responsibilities
One author must be designated as the corresponding author. This individual has specific responsibilities throughout the submission and publication process:
Primary Duties
Manuscript submission and revision management
Communication with editorial office
Coordination among all co-authors
Ensuring all authors approve final version
Responding to peer review comments
Accountability
Responsible for manuscript integrity
Contact point for post-publication inquiries
Managing authorship disputes
Ensuring ethical compliance
Coordinating corrections if needed
Contact Information: The corresponding author must provide accurate and current email address and phone number (+91-7665235235). This information is used only for editorial communication and is not published unless the author consents.
Co-Author Responsibilities
All co-authors share responsibility for the manuscript and must fulfill the following obligations:
Review & Approval
Review and approve the final version before submission
Revision Review
Review and approve all revised versions
Accountability
Take public responsibility for their contributions
Conflict Disclosure
Disclose any competing interests
Respond to Queries
Respond to editorial queries when contacted
No Duplicate Submission
Confirm manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere
Changes to Authorship
Any changes to authorship (addition, removal, or reordering of authors) after submission require formal approval.
Type of Change
Procedure
Adding an Author
Written request from corresponding author; signed consent from all current authors; signed consent from the author being added; explanation of contribution.
Removing an Author
Written request from corresponding author; signed consent from the author being removed; signed consent from all other authors; explanation of reason.
Reordering Authors
Written request from corresponding author; signed consent from all authors; explanation of reason for reordering.
Change of Corresponding Author
Written request from current corresponding author; signed consent from new corresponding author; consent from all authors.
Timing Restrictions
Authorship changes requested after acceptance will be reviewed with heightened scrutiny. Changes requested after publication will require a formal correction notice and may be rejected without compelling justification.
Prohibited Authorship Practices
IJOEAR strictly prohibits the following authorship practices:
Guest Authorship
Adding a person who did not make substantial contributions (e.g., department head, famous researcher) solely to increase publication chances.
Ghost Authorship
Omitting a person who made substantial contributions (e.g., junior researcher, statistician) from the author list.
AI Authorship
Listing artificial intelligence tools (ChatGPT, GPT-4, etc.) as authors. AI cannot meet ICMJE authorship criteria.
Duplicate Publication
Submitting the same manuscript with different author lists to multiple journals.
Consequences
Prohibited authorship practices will result in immediate manuscript rejection. In severe cases, IJOEAR may impose publication bans (1-3 years) and report violations to the authors' institutional ethics committees.
Authorship Dispute Resolution
IJOEAR cannot adjudicate authorship disputes between co-authors. However, the following process applies when a dispute arises:
1
Internal Resolution
Authors attempt to resolve dispute internally
2
Institutional Involvement
Institution ethics committee or ombudsman
3
Journal Hold
IJOEAR places manuscript on hold until resolution
4
Withdrawal
If unresolved, manuscript may be withdrawn
Journal's Role: IJOEAR will not investigate authorship disputes but will require written confirmation from all authors that the dispute has been resolved before proceeding with publication. The corresponding author is responsible for managing author agreements.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, but you must submit a formal request to the editorial office explaining the reason and providing signed consent from all existing authors and the author being added. Requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Yes. The student who made the greatest intellectual contribution and performed the majority of the research work should be listed as first author. The supervisor typically serves as senior author or corresponding author.
No. Artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot meet ICMJE authorship criteria, specifically the accountability requirement. AI use must be disclosed in the manuscript, but AI cannot be a co-author. Refer to our AI Policy for details.
List all affiliations for each author. The primary affiliation should be the institution where the majority of the research was conducted. Use superscript numbers to link authors to their respective affiliations.
All authors must approve the final manuscript. If a co-author unreasonably refuses, the corresponding author should attempt to resolve the issue. If unresolved, the manuscript cannot proceed. The journal may request documentation of the dispute and may withdraw the manuscript.
Yes, but a formal correction notice will be published. The request must be signed by both the current and proposed corresponding authors, along with all co-authors, explaining the reason for the change.
