Policy Statement

The International Journal of Environmental and Agriculture Research (IJOEAR) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. All authors submitting to IJOEAR must adhere to the ethical principles outlined in this policy. We follow the guidelines and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expect all authors, reviewers, and editors to comply with these standards.

Core Ethical Principles

All authors submitting to IJOEAR must adhere to these core ethical principles:

Honesty

Present research findings truthfully without fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data. Report results accurately and completely.

Objectivity

Avoid bias in research design, data interpretation, and manuscript preparation. Disclose all conflicts of interest.

Responsibility

Take accountability for your contributions. Address ethical concerns promptly and cooperate with investigations.

Integrity

Maintain professional standards and ethical guidelines throughout the research and publication process.

Authorship Ethics

IJOEAR follows the ICMJE authorship criteria. All authors must:

Qualify as Authors

  • Make substantial contributions to conception/design or data acquisition/analysis
  • Draft or critically revise the manuscript for important intellectual content
  • Approve the final version to be published
  • Agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work

Prohibited Practices

  • Ghost authorship (excluding contributors)
  • Guest/gift authorship (including non-contributors)
  • AI as co-author (not permitted)
  • Unauthorized authorship changes

Corresponding Author Responsibility: The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring all co-authors have approved the manuscript and that authorship is accurately represented. For complete guidelines, refer to our Authorship Policy.

Originality & Plagiarism

IJOEAR has a zero-tolerance policy towards plagiarism.

Verbatim copying without quotes; mosaic plagiarism; self-plagiarism; translation plagiarism.

Consequences of Plagiarism: Immediate rejection, retraction if published, publication ban (1-5 years), and notification to institution. Refer to Plagiarism Policy for details.

Data Integrity & Reproducibility

Authors must ensure the integrity and reproducibility of their research data:

Data Requirements

  • Data must be accurate and authentic
  • No fabrication or falsification of data
  • Raw data should be retained for at least 5 years
  • Data sharing encouraged where possible
  • Provide sufficient detail for reproducibility

Data Availability Statement

  • Include statement in manuscript
  • Specify where data can be accessed
  • Explain any restrictions on data access
  • Provide repository links if applicable

Conflict of Interest Disclosure

All authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest at submission.

Research Ethics & Compliance

Research involving human subjects, animals, or hazardous materials must comply with ethical standards:

Human Subjects Research

  • IRB or ethics committee approval required
  • Informed consent from participants
  • Privacy and confidentiality protection
  • Include approval statement in manuscript

Animal Research

  • IACUC or ethics committee approval required
  • Adherence to ARRIVE guidelines
  • Humane treatment of animals
  • Include approval statement in manuscript

Submission Ethics

Authors must adhere to the following submission ethics:

No Duplicate Submission

Do not submit the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously.

No Redundant Publication

Do not publish the same research in multiple journals.

Disclose Prior Publication

Disclose preprints, conference proceedings, or previous versions.

Acknowledge Sources

Properly cite all sources and acknowledge contributions.

Post-Publication Ethics

After publication, authors have ongoing ethical responsibilities:

Corrections

Report errors promptly. Cooperate with issuance of corrections or retractions.

Respond to Inquiries

Respond professionally to post-publication questions or critiques.

Data Availability

Make data available for verification if requested.

AI tools may be used for language enhancement and formatting assistance. However, AI cannot be listed as a co-author, and authors must disclose AI use. Refer to our AI Policy for complete guidelines.

Publication Ethics (this page) focuses on author-specific ethical standards, including authorship, plagiarism, data integrity, and conflict of interest. Journal Ethics Policy provides an overarching framework for all parties (authors, reviewers, editors) and COPE compliance. Both are complementary.
